Lutheranism is one of the oldest Protestant denominations. It traces its core practices and beliefs back to Martin Luther (1483-1546), a German Biblical Scholar who sought to reform the  Catholic Church. 

• For any LCMS (Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod) Lutherans – you should ask your church to transfer your membership to St. Peter Lutheran Church in Bowie, TX.
• For Non–Lutherans and Non–LCMS Lutherans – we offer an adult information class that teaches the Lutheran Confessions (Small Catechism) and what makes us distinctly Lutheran. 
• For the non-baptized, we baptize you, and you become a member of the church. 
• For Christians who are coming from other denominations, after the adult information class is over, we go through a rite of confirmation, where you profess your faith and are accepted into membership. 
• For lapsed Lutherans (who were Lutheran earlier in life), we go through a rite of affirmation of faith, where you affirm your confirmation vows and are accepted into membership.

• For your children, just ask us and we will baptize them. 
• For you (assuming you are an adult), we ask that you go through our adult information class and then be baptized. 

All weddings at St. Peter Lutheran Church are performed by our pastor (or another LCMS pastor).

• Are you an LCMS Lutheran? Yes. 
• Are you a non–LCMS Lutheran who is marrying an LCMS Lutheran (or vice versa)? Yes.
• Are you and your spouse not Lutherans, but interested in becoming Lutherans? Yes, after you and your fiancée complete the adult information class and have joined St. Peter Lutheran Church. 
• Are you and your spouse not Lutheran, and not interested in becoming a Lutheran? No.

• We have the Adult Fellowship Group for adults of any age and marital status. This group goes to cultural and other types of fellowship events. 
• The Youth Group is for our high school-aged members. 
• Our confirmation class is for 6th and 7th grades. 
• We have Midweek School for our children (K–5th grade).  

Confirmation class is an opportunity for our young members (6th – 7th grades) to learn the Small Catechism, what we Lutherans believe, and how to apply it in our daily lives. 

• A free after-school program for children (K-5th grade), held nearly every Wednesday of the Bowie School year, where children get to have a snack, a fun craft, and a Bible lesson. 
• Your child can be enrolled, at any point in the year, by contacting us. 
• Afterschool pick up is available for those in Bowie ISD (a form must be signed prior). 

The elders of the church are a group of men who concern themselves with the worship and spiritual well-being of St. Peter Lutheran Church and her members. They meet with the pastor, present the concerns of the members, and work with the pastor to prioritize and bring about results.
